Rice for Senate gets nod on Kos front page

Daily Kos, in fact Kos himself, wrote an article about the Oklahoma GOP's attempts to smear Andrew Rice for his association with "radical" left-wing groups such as the Sierra Club and the ACLU. Apparently there's also a mysterious shadow organization called "Hollywood" led by Janeane Garofalo - oooh scary.

Rice for Senate - let's send Inhofe packing!

Nice to have a Senate candidate I actually want to vote for....ahem...Brad "I'm more conservative than Jesus" Carson...

God hates Fred Phelps

Huge verdict against Fred Phelps and his psychopathic Kansas cult of haters. Right on.

Look at this kid's picture

and tell me why we're still in Iraq. Go on. I'm listening.

Happy Halloween.

Nothing much to post about today - life is very busy right now - got married last weekend, tomorrow's the honeymoon. :-)

Dear Friend,

I just signed this letter asking Harry Reid to oppose immunity for companies that break the law. The ACLU, Moveon.org, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Working Assets Wireless, and many prominant bloggers have signed this letter.

Enough is enough. The law is the law, for big companies and for individuals alike. Join us.

Read the letter and sign up here:

San Diego Wildfires: why is the response better?

Chertoff called federal efforts "phenomenally better" than the 2005 response to Hurricane Katrina "because we have been preparing and planning and training together for the last 2 ½ years."

No, Mr. Chertoff. The response is better because the people in New Orleans were overwhelmingly black and poor. The people in San Diego are well-off, white, Republicans, and there's a naval base there. That's why the response is better. You actually care about the people in San Diego.

Update: More open bigots in the state legislature

Six legislators have now turned down gifts of the Koran. Unbelievable. Such ignorance and bigotry in our state government must not be tolerated.

State legislator refuses gift of Koran

This state legislator was offered a copy of the Koran as an intercultural exchange by the Oklahoma Muslim community, and he refused it. He said that "Most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children in the name of ideology.” Yeah, that's true - and most Muslims don't endorse that idea either.

He also said two other things that should really get him booted out of the State Legislature for being both a blatant racist and an utter idiot:

1) "I don’t know of another religion or ideology that employs terrorism and the threat of terrorism," and

2) "I don’t know any Christians who run around using the Bible as their basis of justification or instruction booklet to keep killing innocent people."

Apparently, with quote number 2, he's completely forgotten about, oh gee, what was that called, oh yeah:

THE CRUSADES.

THE SPANISH INQUISITION.

POGROMS AGAINST JEWS THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE AGES.

I'm sorry - you just can't say that Christianity is a peaceful religion and Islam is a terrorist religion. You just can't say that. And people like this guy and Glenn Beck should be called to task for saying things like that. I'm scared for the Muslim community in this country - the rhetoric is getting to the point that it sounds like Germany, 1935, against the Jews. Vicious lies and xenophobia are being mainstreamed in a really dangerous way.

I'd really like to see this guy impeached for this.

Nothing

Just touching base. This blog is going to be somewhat inactive for the next couple of weeks cause I'm getting MARRIED.

Well, as close to married as my partner and I can get in this theofascist state.

Vote no.

I have decided to vote no to the river tax proposal. I haven't been convinced that the answers to my two questions (see my below analysis) are both yes. When it comes to increasing sales tax, I need to know that there's a pressing need, and that there is no other way to pay for the thing. In addition, I need to know exactly what the plan is. I don't have solid answers for any of those things (and I've looked at the issue thoroughly), so I'm voting no.

Religious Reich considers bolting Repugnant Party for independent candidate

Leaders of the pro-fascist right met and passed a resolution stating that if the Repugnant Party nominated Giuliani, they would "consider" bolting the Party and running an independent candidate.

This would guarantee a Democratic win in '08.

I hope they do it. It would really humiliate those barstids - show them just how small their base of support really is. I'd be surprised if their ticket gets more than 5%.
